My Instagram-dream mind-meld
“What a strange title,” you may be thinking. Titles are a fun and challenging part of blogging but this title is actually a blending of what happened in both my waking life and my dreaming state. I want to show you how dreams can work for you in your life to validate and bring clarity.
It started on Instagram
As a multi-passionate entrepreneur with a variety of projects and jobs to do, I enjoy the gift of being able to set my own hours. Sometimes this will mean working until after midnight or taking a few days to mindfully unwind from the laptop and “doing” to mindfully “being”. I listen to my mind and my body as well as work with my calendar to not only get things organized and done but also to maintain balance and clarity. Through the pandemic it’s been more challenging than usual so when I’ve got clarity I run with it!
One particular Monday I was ON IT! I mean, I got up and I had an idea of what I wanted to get done that day and everything just started to fall into place and the rhythm was there right away and the day was going really great. It was just like that run-on sentence…I moved effortlessly from one thing into the next. The day was going so well, in fact, that I posted a selfie on FB
I wanted to put out a late-night Instagram story and post on my accounts so for my IG page, @TheGoddessInside I posted a favorite image of a loose horse outside of Luxor Temple along with an inspirational message about ALLOWING. I put my IG Story together sharing my card layout for the day, my altar space, and a papyrus painting of Anubis I bought in Egypt. Because of the Ancient Egyptian calendar festival to honor the dead just after the New Year, I set up space on my altar to honor my loved ones in spirit and offered them incense as I called out their names and read a passage from Awakening Osiris (a beautiful translation of the Egyptian “Book of the Dead”)
I then worked on my slide presentation for the online course Sothis: Wisdom in the Stars for about an hour before deciding to go to bed around 2 am.
The Dream Mind-Meld
Sometimes our dreams link us to insight, sometimes they teach us that we need to pay attention to what we watch before going to bed, and sometimes they are visions of past lives or visits from loved ones in spirit. This particular dream is a combination of symbolism for what I’ve been working on and a message of validation about the process.
I’ll be sharing the dream with you here and you can use this type of dream journaling to begin working with your own dreams. When I’m waking up and realizing that I’ve been dreaming, I try not to move and go back into either the visuals or the feelings from the dream. When I have a part of it, I go over it time and again in my mind to try to remember as I become more alert.
The Dream
The morning after my 2 am bed-time I dreamed that I was in a room looking for things. I’m not clear on what I was looking for exactly but I remember needing to find the “right medicine”. Then I was leading my horse Fred along a trail or outside somewhere when a van pulls up and the singer/songwriter Rhianna gets out. There’s a man in the passenger seat but he remains in the van while she comes up to me and Fred. She’s got her phone out and was doing a FB LIVE! about her new album coming out, at which time she panned the phone to me and Fred and I was telling all her fans about how great it was going to be.
When she finished her LIVE! I could tell she wanted to pet Fred so I asked her and she reached out her hand to pet her. After a few minutes, Fred started to back up and then her bridle broke. The bit was hitting her teeth so I had to gently get her into a stall so I could remove it. Once in the stall, Fred calmed down and went over to the large round bale of hay and put her front legs on top of it and began to eat.
(Any takers on THIS dream interpretation?! Drop it in the comments!)
Here’s my take:
Right before going to bed and calling it a day I had been working on the slides for a portion of the online course, Sothis Rising: Wisdom in the Stars. I was working on the Egyptian Astrology section within the temples and pouring over my books of ancient texts. I was in deep and knew that I was needing to go to bed although all the material was swimming in my soul and I didn’t feel especially tired.
The things I love about this dream are all the symbols.
Dream: I’m in a place looking for the “right medicine”, exploring all the cupboards to find it — Life: I’m searching through the books for just the right information
Dream: I’m leading Fred — Life: I had just posted a photo of a horse without a leader
Dream: Rihanna shows up and promotes her new album with me on social media — Life: Well, Rihanna didn’t show up to let me be a part of her new album release, but because I’ve been trying to better embrace social media, I’ve been doing more LIVE! posts and sharing what’s coming up
Fun side note: Just out of curiosity I googled Rihanna and her new album and about 4 days ago it was a bit of a buzz with articles about when-was-she-going-to-drop-her-next-album-after-4-years-already?! #TrueStory
Dream: Rihanna wanted to pet Fred — Life: Horses to me represent freedom and intuition. There’s a Celtic Goddess named Rhiannon who’s a goddess of horses so I see this interaction as a form of the Goddess, or even a form of a Star (Sothis) reaching out to touch a part of my intuition, guiding me
Dream: Fred’s bridle broke — Life: Because of her age and soundness issues, I haven’t been able to ride Fred for about 3 years now but this is symbolic of allowing Fred to just be with me….allowing my intuition to guide me through the gathering of information and the presentation of it for a class all about “Wisdom in the Stars”.
So what does all this mean?
I feel that a part of my life was being reflected in my dream — the aspects of Ancient Egypt I’m pulling together for the course, the sky Goddess Sothis and the stars (Rihanna “disappearing” from the music scene in the same way Sothis is absent from the sky for portions of the year), the horse in the image with the message of allowing and exploring, the bridle breaking (the way you control a horse). For me, the meaning of this seemingly strange dream with parts that don’t look like they fit together is that I’m being guided and led by the stars and invited to share the “right medicine” with those who are drawn to the magic of Sothis and Ancient Egypt for the course. The bridle breaking shows me that something isn’t working and this helped me to decide to postpone the launch date ….the course was leading me into what it needs to be and the symbolism of being led to a stall to settle down and regroup tells me that I need this moment to regroup and reconfigure the class material. Behind the scenes, there were actually 3 major courses being put together into one and I’m really enjoying having it broken down into more bite-sized pieces….although Fred did start to eat on that large hay bale…..the information that feeds you through it will “elevate” you!
Dreams are challenging yet fun. They show us that what we pay attention to we can continue to process in our dreams because part of us can’t quite fathom it while we’re awake. They show us if we’re filled with fears or uncertainty; they show us if we watched a movie about aliens taking over the world or too much news of people being sick and infecting others/ourselves; they show us that we, at some level, are connected to the world at large and events around us, even if we don’t know exactly why we need to be connected.
Why did I need to know that the world was buzzing over Rihanna’s next album? I like her music but don’t follow her, yet she’s got a beautiful tattoo of Isis on her chest and often wears Egyptian jewelry. These types of dreams with celebrities or people we can find out about easily through a Google search serve to remind us that we’re connected to divine wisdom and teach us to trust the intuitive information we receive. Years ago I used to dream often about Steve Irwin in this way and receive information about him that I didn’t know but when I woke up and checked into it, found that it was usually recently in the news. All of this was happening during a time when I was really beginning to open my intuition and tap into this gift. I needed to learn how to trust visions I was receiving about people so that I could then begin to do my work giving readings, coaching, and teaching so the Universe taught me through dreams.
So, I’m taking all of this into consideration and honoring the teaching of this dream by deciding to fine-tune my next big online course, Sothis Rising, so that it can be packed with powerful tools in a way that helps not overwhelms.
The take-away for you….
Try paying attention to the theme of your dreams.
Pay attention to what your mind has been immersed in before you sleep.
See if you can change or direct the overall mood and theme of your dreams by changing your thought patterns before sleeping.
Write your dreams down for clarity
Ask, “How will I honor this dream?”
Most of all, enjoy the journey!
